Don’t underestimate worm infestation in children! Know these 5 reasons that affect growth and health

Worm infestation is a common health problem in children. If not treated on time, it can lead to anemia, malnutrition, and stunted growth. The main reasons for worms in children are:

Dirty hands and nails: Worm eggs are likely to stick between the nails of children who play in the soil. When they eat food without washing their hands properly, these eggs reach the stomach and develop into worms.

Unclean food and water: Infection can occur through food or water contaminated with worm eggs. Worms enter the body through improperly washed vegetables, fruits, and exposed food.

Playing barefoot in the soil: Some worms, such as hookworm, are capable of penetrating the skin. When you walk barefoot in the soil, the worms enter the body through your feet.

Undercooked meat: Eating undercooked meat can lead to tapeworms. Always cook meat thoroughly before giving it to your child.

Contact with others: Infection can be spread through close contact with other children who have the disease and by sharing their clothes and toys. It can spread quickly, especially in schools and Anganwadis.
