Main causes of diabetes
Insulin problems:
Type 1 diabetes: The pancreas stops producing insulin completely. This is caused by a defect in the immune system.
Type 2 diabetes: The body is unable to use the insulin it produces effectively (Insulin Resistance). This is a condition in which the pancreas is unable to produce insulin as per the body’s needs.
Genetics: If parents or siblings in the family have diabetes, the risk of developing it is higher.
Lifestyle errors:
Lack of exercise: A sedentary lifestyle and lack of exercise lead to diabetes.
Overweight: Excess body fat, especially belly fat, causes insulin resistance.
Dietary habits: Eating too much sugary foods, drinks, processed foods, and foods high in carbohydrates can cause diabetes.
Stress: Continuous stress stimulates hormones that increase blood sugar levels.
Age and other diseases: Increasing age, high blood pressure (BP), and cholesterol also increase the risk of diabetes.
