Chest Pain is a very serious symptom that should not be ignored under any circumstances. Chest pain can occur for many reasons, from heart problems to digestive problems.

The main causes and symptoms of chest pain are given below:

1. Cardiac Causes (Most Important)

Heart Attack / Myocardial Infarction: This occurs when blood flow to the heart is blocked. The main symptom is a severe heaviness or squeezing pain in the center or left side of the chest.

Angina: Chest pain that occurs when the heart muscle does not get enough blood (especially while walking or working).

2. Digestive Causes

Acid Reflux / Gastric Problems (GERD / Heartburn): When stomach acid comes up through the esophagus, you may experience a burning sensation and pain in the chest. This is often mistaken for heart pain.

Gallbladder issues or pancreatitis: Pain may be felt in the upper abdomen and lower chest.

3. Respiratory Causes

Pneumonia or Pleurisy: Infection or inflammation of the lungs or the lining that covers them. Chest pain may worsen when taking a deep breath or coughing.

Pulmonary Embolism: A blood clot in the blood vessels of the lungs. This can cause sudden shortness of breath and chest pain.
