Main reasons for the increase in uric acid
Dietary habits (Purine-rich diet): The main reason is excessive consumption of foods rich in purines:
Red meat: beef, mutton, etc.
Seafood: Some types of fish such as shrimp, mackerel, sardines.
Organ meats: Liver, kidneys, etc.
Drinks: Excessive consumption of alcohol (especially beer) can increase uric acid. Similarly, soft drinks containing fructose and artificial sweeteners can also be the cause.
Obesity: In obese people, the body produces more uric acid and the kidneys have difficulty excreting it.
Kidney problems: When the kidneys’ ability to filter the blood decreases, uric acid remains in the body.
Certain medications: Excessive use of certain blood pressure lowering medications (diuretics) and painkillers can increase uric acid.
Heredity: If someone in your family has had uric acid problems, there is a risk of genetics.
Diabetes: People with uncontrolled diabetes often have high uric acid levels.
