Allergies are a condition in which the body’s immune system overreacts to certain external substances. This can cause problems with the skin, lungs, or digestive system. The main causes are:
Dust and air pollution: Indoor dust, especially ‘dust mites’, are the main cause of allergies. Inhaling smoke, soot from vehicles, and pollen can cause chronic sneezing and asthma.
Food items: Allergies can occur suddenly by eating certain foods. Milk, eggs, seafood (shrimp, crab), peanuts, soy, and wheat are important in this. This can cause itching or swelling in the body.
Animal hair and skin: Pet hair, saliva, and scales from their skin can cause allergies in many people. This can lead to breathing difficulties or red and swollen eyes.
Chemicals and medications: Chemicals in soaps, perfumes, detergents, and cosmetics can cause skin allergies (Contact Dermatitis). Some antibiotics and painkillers can also cause allergies.
Weather changes: Cold weather, the presence of molds, and humidity in the air can increase allergies. This causes problems like sinusitis to increase during the rainy and cold seasons.
