Main causes of asthma
Genetics: If your parents or close relatives have asthma or allergies in your family, you are more likely to develop it.
Allergies: Allergies to dust mites, pollen, pet dander, cockroaches, etc. in the air can trigger asthma.
Infections: Viral infections in childhood can weaken the airways and later cause asthma.
Air pollution: Cigarette smoke, smoke from vehicles, polluted air from factories, chemicals, and paint fumes irritate the airways.
Weather changes: Sudden cold and changes in humidity in the air can cause sudden shortness of breath in people with asthma.
Physical exertion: Excessive exercise or running can trigger asthma in some people (Exercise-induced asthma).
Psychological stress: Severe tension or emotional upset can affect breathing and worsen symptoms.
