A headache that usually comes and goes often becomes severe under certain circumstances. This is mainly due to some changes in our lifestyle and environment. The main factors that increase headaches are:
Mental stress and anxiety: The most important cause of headaches is stress. When there is a workload or mental disturbances, the muscles in the head and neck tighten (Tension headache) and the pain becomes severe.
Dietary irregularities: Not eating on time (Skipping meals) can reduce blood sugar levels and cause headaches. In addition, excessive use of caffeine, chocolate, and processed foods can increase migraines in some people.
Insomnia: When the body does not get enough rest, brain function slows down. Irregular bedtime or lack of sleep is a major factor in increasing the intensity of headaches.
Dehydration: A decrease in the amount of water in the body can affect blood flow to the brain. This causes the brain cells to shrink and causes severe headaches.
Environmental factors: Intense sunlight, excessive noise, strong odors (perfumes or chemicals), and blue light from computer screens are external factors that can cause headaches to worsen quickly.
