Important foods to avoid for people with allergies

90 percent of food allergies seen worldwide are caused by the following eight types of foods.

1. Milk & Dairy
The protein in cow’s milk causes allergies in many people. This is more common in children. The main symptoms are itching, diarrhea, and wheezing. Coconut milk or almond milk can be used instead of dairy products.

2. Eggs
The protein in egg whites or yolks can cause allergies. Symptoms include skin rashes or difficulty breathing.

3. Peanuts
Peanuts are one of the most serious allergies. This can lead to a dangerous condition called ‘Anaphylaxis’, which causes swelling in the airways. You should also be careful with foods containing peanut oil.

4. Shellfish & Fish
Shrimp, crab, and mussels can cause severe itching and swelling in many people. Fish such as sardines and mackerel can also cause allergies in some people.

5. Wheat
The protein gluten in wheat can cause digestive problems and skin diseases. This is called gluten allergy or celiac disease.

6. Soy
Soybeans, soy milk, and soy sauce are likely to cause allergies. This is usually seen in children.

7. Tree Nuts
Almonds, cashews, pistachios, and walnuts are likely to cause allergies. People with a nut allergy may also be allergic to other nuts.

8. Eggplant and yam (Common Local Allergens)
Itching is common in our country when eating eggplant, yam, and yam. The oxalate crystals in these are what cause the discomfort.
