Tobacco Use: The most important cause of oral cancer is tobacco. Smoking (cigarettes, bidis), chewing tobacco, chewing tobacco, khaini, gutka, etc. greatly increases the risk of cancer.
Alcohol Consumption: Excessive alcohol consumption is harmful to the health of the mouth and throat. When alcohol and tobacco use are combined, the risk of cancer increases tenfold.
HPV Infection (Human Papillomavirus): Some types of HPV viruses cause cancer in the back of the mouth and throat.
Genetics: If someone in the family has had oral cancer, it is likely to be inherited.
Sunlight (UV Exposure): Excessive sun exposure to the lips can increase the risk of lip cancer.
Dental problems: Improperly placed dentures (artificial teeth), sharp teeth or sharp edges of the teeth that constantly hit the tongue or cheek and cause cuts can gradually lead to cancer.
