Prostate Health Men Should Know; 5 Things That Can Cause Problems

The prostate is a small gland located below the bladder in men. As we age, changes in this gland can cause many problems, including urinary incontinence. The main causes are:

Age and hormonal changes (BPH): The prostate gland naturally enlarges with age (Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia). This is due to changes in hormones such as testosterone in the body. This puts pressure on the urethra and makes it difficult to urinate.

Infection (Prostatitis): The prostate gland can become swollen due to a bacterial infection. This is known as prostatitis. Symptoms include a burning sensation during urination, fever, and pain in the lower abdomen. This problem is also seen in young men.

Obesity and poor diet: High-fat foods and excessive consumption of red meat can cause prostate swelling and increase the risk of cancer. Weight gain leads to excessive growth of cells in the gland.

Genetic factors: If someone in your family has had prostate-related diseases or cancer, it is more likely to be inherited. Genetic factors play a big role, especially in the case of prostate cancer.

Lifestyle: Smoking, drinking alcohol, and lack of physical activity are detrimental to prostate health. Not drinking enough water and holding back urination increase the risk of infection.
