Bacterial Infection:
When bacteria enter the prostate gland through the urinary tract, infection and severe swelling (Acute/Chronic Prostatitis) occur.
Aging:
As men age (especially after the age of 50), the prostate gland begins to naturally enlarge (BPH) due to hormonal changes. This puts pressure on the urethra.
Hormonal Changes:
As men age, changes in the levels of testosterone and estrogen in the body can cause prostate cells to grow.
Injuries or Pressure in the Pelvic Area:
Injuries to the nerves or muscles in the pelvic area during activities such as cycling or prolonged sitting can cause inflammation of the prostate.
Immune System/Nerve Damage: Some people may experience chronic pelvic pain syndrome (chronic prostatitis) due to nerve damage in the urinary tract or pelvic area or an overactive immune response to infections.
