Plantar Fasciitis: This is the most common cause of heel pain. It is a swelling of the thick tissue (fascia) between the muscles and bones at the bottom of the foot. Its main symptom is severe pain when you get up in the morning and take the first few steps.
Heel Spur: In some people, the bone in the heel grows abnormally and looks like a small thorn. This causes pain when walking.
Obesity: In overweight people, more pressure is put on the feet, which causes pain.
Shoe selection: Wearing shoes with thin soles (e.g. flat shoes) that do not provide support and strength to the foot is harmful.
Standing or walking for long periods of time: Standing in the same position for a long time at work or elsewhere or walking on hard surfaces increases pain.
Arthritis: Conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis or gout can cause swelling and pain in the ankle.
Muscle tightness: Tightness in the calf muscles below the knee can increase pressure on the ankle.
