Eczema / Atopic Dermatitis:
This is a condition that causes excessive dryness, itching and scaling of the skin. After scratching, dark spots (Hyperpigmentation) may later appear in that area.
Varicose Veins:
This is a condition in which the blood vessels in the legs become thickened and swollen. This affects blood flow and causes itching and brown or black spots on the lower part of the legs. This is called ‘Stasis Dermatitis’.
Allergic Reaction (Contact Dermatitis):
Itching and then black spots may occur due to contact with certain types of soaps, detergents, shoes or clothes.
Fungal Infection:
Itching around the legs and then discoloration may be due to a fungal infection.
Diabetes:
People with diabetes are more likely to develop these spots and itching on their feet. When blood sugar levels increase, changes can occur in the skin.
Lichen Planus:
This is a type of skin disease. It causes severe itching and scaling, which later turns into black spots.
