Reasons/Risk Factors for Ovarian Cancer

Age and Hormonal Changes:

Age is an important factor. Women are more likely to develop ovarian cancer after menopause.

Early menopause and late menopause may increase the risk of ovarian cancer.

Genetics:

If your mother or sisters have had ovarian cancer or breast cancer in your family, you are more likely to develop the disease due to genetic factors (BRCA1 and BRCA2 gene mutations).

Reproductive-Related Causes:

Women who have never been pregnant, those who have had late pregnancies, and those with infertility are at slightly higher risk.

Obesity and Lifestyle:

Obesity may affect the risk of ovarian cancer. Smoking and unhealthy eating habits increase the risk of this, as do most cancers.

Endometriosis:

People who have had this condition for a long time, in which the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus, have a slightly higher risk of ovarian cancer.
