This is a condition that occurs in the testicles, similar to varicose veins in the legs. The causes of this are given below:

Causes of varicocele
Defective Valves: There are small valves inside the veins that carry blood from the testicles back to the heart. Their job is to prevent blood from flowing back down. However, when these valves do not work properly or are damaged, blood accumulates in the veins and the veins become swollen and thickened.

Obstruction in blood flow: If there is any obstruction in the blood vessels in the testicle or if blood pressure increases, blood can accumulate and cause swelling.

Anatomical factors: It is often found more in the left testicle. This is because of the way the blood vessels from the left testicle go to the heart and its connection with other veins.

Main symptoms
Pain: The pain increases when standing or sitting for a long time and decreases when lying down.

Swelling: The veins may appear as a small lump or a ‘bag of worms’ in the scrotum.

Infertility: Varicoceles can affect sperm production and quality. Therefore, it is important to check for varicoceles in men with infertility problems.
