Choose the right utensils:
This is the most important way to save gas. Always use flat-bottomed and large-sized utensils. If the utensils are small, the fire will go out and the gas will be wasted.
Prepare food before cooking:
Chopping vegetables and soaking nuts/grains will help save gas. Soaking nuts and grains for half an hour beforehand will reduce the amount of gas needed to cook them.
Use of cookers:
Pressure cookers can save 30% to 50% gas compared to cooking in an open vessel. Since the pressure cooker heats up quickly, the time required is very less.
Color of fire and cleanliness of the burner:
If dirt or soot accumulates in the gas burners, the color of the fire will turn yellow or orange. This is a sign that gas is costing more. Wash the burners once a week with hot soapy water. Make sure the flame is always blue.
Adjust the flame correctly:
Do not set the flame to full flame so that the flame reaches the sides of the pan. Adjust the flame so that the flame is just below the bottom of the pan (Medium or Low flame). Turn on the gas only after placing the pan.
