The severe pain you feel in your heel when you wake up in the morning is a problem that bothers many people. It is medically called Plantar Fasciitis. The main causes are:
Inflammation of the plantar fascia: Pain occurs when small wounds or swelling occur due to excessive pressure on the plantar fascia, a tough layer of tissue under the foot. The pain is felt most severely when you get up in the morning and take the first few steps.
Heel Spur: Calcium deposits in the heel bone, which can cause pain. This can be detected through X-rays.
Inappropriate shoes: Wearing hard, uncushioned shoes increases pressure on the heel. Wearing flat shoes or shoes that are too low for a long time can lead to pain.
Obesity and prolonged standing: As you gain weight, the load on your feet increases. Similarly, standing on hard surfaces for long periods of time can also cause heel pain.
Physical exercises: Running, jumping, and excessive walking can strain the joints and muscles of the heel if not done properly. This is common in athletes.
