Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in women worldwide. It can be effectively prevented by getting tested on time and recognizing the symptoms. The main reasons are:
Age and gender: The risk of breast cancer increases with age. It is mainly found in women, but rarely men are also affected by this disease.
Hereditary factors: If a mother or sister in the family has had breast cancer, others are more likely to get it. Certain genetic changes (BRCA1, BRCA2 genes) cause this.
Hormonal changes: Early menstruation (before the age of 12), late menopause (after the age of 55), not breastfeeding, and late childbirth are factors that increase the risk of breast cancer. Long-term use of hormone replacement therapy should also be considered.
Lifestyle: Obesity, lack of exercise, and a diet high in fat increase the risk of cancer. Smoking and alcohol consumption are other factors that contribute to this.
Radiation exposure: Those who have received radiation to the chest area as part of any other treatment when they were young are at risk of developing breast cancer later in life.
