Are you bothered by yellow teeth? Follow these 5 tips to brighten your smile

Teeth discoloration often affects our self-confidence. Eating habits and lifestyle habits are the main factors that cause teeth to lose their natural white color. The main reasons are:

Food and drinks: Regular consumption of tea, coffee, colas, and wine causes the enamel of the teeth to change color. The chromogens contained in these can cause stains on the outer surface of the teeth.

Tobacco use: The tar and nicotine contained in cigarettes cause deep yellow or brown stains on the teeth. While tar gives the teeth a black color, nicotine turns yellow when exposed to air.

Poor hygiene: Not brushing and flossing properly causes plaque to accumulate on the teeth. This leads to tooth discoloration and tooth decay.

Enamel wear: Enamel is the outermost thick layer of the tooth. The layer beneath it, called dentin, is naturally yellow. As the enamel wears away with age, the yellow color inside begins to show through.

Side effects of medications: Some antibiotics (such as tetracycline) and blood pressure medications can cause tooth discoloration. Excessive use of such medications during childhood can affect tooth development.
