Are you bothered by persistent itching? Know these 5 villains that cause skin discomfort

Although itching on the skin may often seem insignificant, it can be a symptom of other diseases inside the body. The main causes of itching are:

Dry Skin: The most common cause of itching is the loss of moisture in the skin. As we age, in the cold season, or due to excessive use of soap, the skin becomes dry, which causes severe itching.

Allergies: Some foods, medications, cosmetics, or fibers in clothing can cause allergies to the skin. This causes the skin to swell and itch (Hives/Urticaria).

Fungal infections: Fungal growth in areas of the body where sweat accumulates can cause itching. Examples of this are ringworm and athlete’s foot. Such infections are likely to increase in humid weather.

Insect Bites and Fleas: It is normal to feel itchy after being bitten by mosquitoes, ants, or other small insects. In addition, lice and scabies mites burrowing under the skin can also cause severe itching.

Internal Diseases: Sometimes itching is not just a skin problem. People with liver disease, kidney failure, diabetes, or thyroid problems can also experience itching all over their body.
