Obsessive thoughts! Be aware of these 5 factors that cause OCD and OCPD

OCD is a condition in which the same thoughts and actions are repeated. However, OCPD is a personality disorder in which everything has to be perfect. Both of these are not just a personality trait, but mental disorders that occur due to many reasons.

Chemical changes in the brain: Changes in the levels of chemicals such as serotonin and dopamine, which are messengers in the brain, lead to such conditions. This affects the ability to control thoughts.

Genetics: If someone in the family has such mental disorders, it is likely to be passed on to the next generation. Studies suggest that certain genes are associated with such behavioral disorders.

Life experiences and upbringing: Severe discipline in childhood, excessive responsibilities, or emotional insecurity can lead to conditions like OCPD. The fear of always having to be perfect can lead to this.

Excessive anxiety and stress: Big changes in life or severe mental stress can increase OCD symptoms. Individuals seek refuge in repetitive behaviors to overcome such stress.

Changes in brain structure: Changes in the functioning of certain parts of the brain (the Orbitofrontal Cortex), which controls fear and behavior, are associated with such disorders.
