Genetics: If your parents or siblings have diabetes, you are more likely to develop it.
Obesity: Obesity, especially abdominal fat, makes cells unresponsive to insulin (Insulin Resistance).
Lifestyle:
Lack of exercise: A sedentary lifestyle is a major cause of diabetes.
Diet: Excessive consumption of sugary drinks, processed foods, and starchy foods increases blood sugar.
Age: Although the risk of diabetes increases in people over 45 years of age, it is now widely seen in children and young people.
Stress: Excessive stress increases the production of certain hormones in the body, which can increase blood sugar levels.
Lack of sleep: Not getting enough sleep can adversely affect the function of insulin.
Main symptoms
Excessive thirst and hunger.
Frequent urination.
Sudden weight loss.
Fatigue, weakness, blurred vision.
Wounds take longer to heal.
What can be done?
Dietary control: Avoid sweets completely. Include less starch and vegetables and foods rich in fiber.
Exercise: Walk or do other exercises for at least 30-40 minutes daily.
Regular testing: Check blood sugar levels (Fasting, PP, HbA1c) at regular intervals.
Weight control: Take care to maintain a healthy weight.
