Main reasons for jaundice
Viral Hepatitis:
This is the most common cause of jaundice. When viruses such as hepatitis A, B, C, D, and E affect the liver, the liver function is impaired and bilirubin increases in the blood.
Hepatitis A & E: Transmitted through contaminated water and food.

Hepatitis B, C: Transmitted through sharing infected needles or through blood.
Biliary Obstruction:
If there are stones in the gallbladder or bile duct, or if the bile duct is blocked by tumors, bile does not flow into the intestines and jaundice occurs.
Alcohol:
Long-term excessive alcohol consumption can damage the liver (Alcoholic Liver Disease) and lead to jaundice.

Hemolysis:
In some types of anemia, excessive destruction of blood cells can cause the liver to be unable to process bilirubin, resulting in jaundice.
Medications:
Excessive use or side effects of certain medications can affect the liver.
