Is the liver failing? 5 main reasons behind silent liver diseases

The liver, the largest internal organ in our body, plays a crucial role in digestion and detoxification. But often we only realize that the liver is suffering from a disease when it reaches a serious condition. The main reasons are:

Excessive alcohol consumption (Alcoholic Liver Disease): One of the most important causes of liver damage is alcohol. Alcohol causes inflammation in the liver cells (Alcoholic Hepatitis), which over time destroys them and leads to a difficult-to-treat condition called liver cirrhosis.

Fatty liver (NAFLD): Liver disease is now widespread even in non-drinkers. A diet high in oil and fat, junk food, and lack of exercise cause excessive fat to accumulate in the liver. Diabetes and obesity increase the risk of this.

Hepatitis virus infections: Viruses such as hepatitis B and C, which are transmitted through blood or other bodily fluids, cause severe infections in the liver. If not treated on time, it can lead to chronic liver diseases or conditions like lipoma (liver cancer).

Excessive and improper use of medications: Taking painkillers and antibiotics for a long time without a doctor’s prescription can be harmful to the health of the liver. This can cause severe damage to the liver cells that filter chemicals.

Toxins and adulteration in food: Aflatoxin, a toxin found in vegetables that are heavily contaminated with pesticides and spoiled and moldy grains, can damage liver cells in the long term.
