Cancer is a condition in which cells in the body grow uncontrollably and do not die. Often, our lifestyle habits lead to this disease. The main causes are:
Tobacco and alcohol: The biggest cause of cancer is tobacco use. Cigarettes and chewing tobacco cause cancer of the lungs, mouth, and throat. Excessive alcohol consumption increases the risk of liver and esophageal cancer.
Wrong diet: Consumption of over-processed foods, canned foods, red meat, and foods with artificial colors increases the risk of cancer. A diet low in fiber can lead to colon cancer.
Environmental toxins: Air pollution, food contaminated with pesticides, and excessive exposure to chemicals cause changes in the structure of cells. Excessive exposure to UV radiation can cause skin cancer.
Genetic causes: About 5-10% of cancers are hereditary. If someone in your family has had cancer at a young age, the next generation is at higher risk.
Infections and viruses: Some viruses can lead to cancer. For example, human papillomavirus (HPV) can cause cervical cancer, and hepatitis B and C viruses can cause liver cancer.
