Fatty liver disease is mainly of two types: alcoholic (caused by alcohol) and non-alcoholic (caused by people who do not drink alcohol).
Overweight and obesity:
Excessive body weight, especially fat accumulation in the abdominal area, is the main cause of fat accumulation in the liver.
Type 2 Diabetes & Insulin Resistance:
When the body does not use insulin properly, blood sugar and fat accumulate in the liver.
High Cholesterol/Triglycerides:
Increased levels of triglycerides or bad cholesterol in the blood can cause fatty liver.
Unhealthy eating habits:
Excessive consumption of fast food, fried and deep-fried foods, and artificially sweetened beverages.
Alcohol Consumption:
Regular consumption of excessive amounts of alcohol damages liver cells and leads to the accumulation of fat in the liver (Alcoholic Fatty Liver).
Lifestyle:
Lack of exercise and a sedentary lifestyle.
Other causes:
Side effects of certain types of medications, hormonal disorders, and genetic factors can also lead to this.
