What is the inside of our blood vessels like? Things to pay attention to for health!

Our blood vessels are a pipeline system that is several kilometers long that carries oxygen and nutrients throughout the body. Their insides are made in an amazing way.

1. Endothelium – Inner lining
This is a layer of thin cells found at the innermost part of the blood vessels. It is very smooth. This smoothness allows blood to flow without obstruction. This layer helps prevent blood clotting and regulate blood pressure.

2. Smooth Muscle – Muscle layer
Muscles are found just outside the inner lining. These muscles help the blood vessels expand (vasodilation) and contract (vasoconstriction). Through this, the body regulates blood flow.

3. How does a block form inside?

When our lifestyle deteriorates, the smooth lining (endothelium) becomes damaged. Through these cracks, cholesterol and fat enter the inside and form a plaque. This narrows the path for blood flow.

4. Causes of poor blood vessel health:
Excessive sugar and salt: This damages the lining.

Smoking: It makes the blood vessels lose their elasticity and makes them thicker.

Cholesterol: It sticks to the inside and obstructs blood flow.

To keep the inside of the blood vessels clean:
Drink plenty of water: This will help thin the blood and make it flow smoothly.

Foods rich in omega-3: Fish, walnuts, and flax seeds can reduce inflammation in the blood vessels.

Exercise: Increases the ability of blood vessels to expand.
