Main causes of knee pain

Osteoarthritis: This is a condition in which the cartilage that covers the bones of the knee wears down with age. Symptoms include pain, swelling, and clicking when moving the joints.

Injuries: Injuries to the ligaments or meniscus in the knee during sports or accidents can cause severe pain.

Obesity: As you gain weight, excessive pressure is placed on the knees with each step. This causes rapid wear and tear.

Muscle weakness: If the muscles in the thighs (Quadriceps & Hamstrings) are weak, the knee will lose its balance and become painful.

Gout or Rheumatoid Arthritis: Pain and swelling in the knees can occur due to an increase in uric acid in the body (Gout) or due to the immune system attacking the joints (Rheumatoid Arthritis).

Tendinitis: Inflammation of the tendons that connect the kneecap to the muscles. It is seen in people who do excessive stair climbing or running.
