Main reasons for colon cancer
Polyps in the colon: Polyps are small fleshy growths that form on the inner wall of the colon. Although these are mostly non-cancerous, some of them can turn into cancer over the years.
Dietary habits:
Excessive consumption of red meat (goat, buffalo, beef) and processed meats (sausage, bacon).
Following a diet that is too low in fiber and too high in fat.
Lifestyle:
Overweight.
A sedentary lifestyle.
Excessive alcohol consumption and smoking.
Genetics: If someone in your family (parents, siblings) has colon cancer, you are also more likely to get it.
Age: This disease is more likely to be seen in people over 50 years of age.
Other health problems: People with chronic intestinal diseases such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease have a higher risk of developing bowel cancer.
